PROFILE ROUNDUP

Best HeSuVi Profiles for Gaming, Movies & Music

150+ profiles is overwhelming. Here are the ones worth your time — organized by use case, with honest notes on each.

How to Audition Profiles (2-Minute Method)

  1. Open HeSuVi’s Virtualization tab.
  2. Play a 7.1 surround test video (YouTube has several) — not music, which is stereo.
  3. Switch profiles while it plays. Listen for: front vs back separation, dialogue clarity, and whether rear sounds feel behind you.
  4. Keep 2–3 finalists, then test in your actual game.

Best for Competitive FPS

  • GSX (Sennheiser captures) — the community default: dry, precise, excellent front/back.
  • DTS Headphone:X captures — slightly more forward; great when GSX feels too laid-back.
  • Avoid: reverberant ‘room’ profiles — they smear footsteps.

Best for Cinematic Single-Player & Movies

  • Dolby Atmos captures — spacious, with a sense of height on Atmos content.
  • CMSS-3D captures — warmer, speaker-like presentation many prefer for films.

Best for Music

  • Honest answer: usually none. Music is mixed in stereo; virtual surround adds little and can smear imaging. Use HeSuVi’s EQ only for music, surround off.
  • If you insist: the driest GSX profile at low ‘room’ settings.

The Personalization Truth

No list beats your own ears: HRTFs are personal (see our HRTF explainer). A profile I love may image poorly for you. Audition at least five before settling — it takes ten minutes and matters more than any recommendation.

The Bottom Line

Start with GSX for gaming, Atmos captures for movies, and EQ-only for music — then audition. The ‘best’ HeSuVi profile is the one that images correctly for your ears, and only a 10-minute audition finds it.
